A week of VICTORY-in more ways than one!!

The past week was crazy and good.
Last weekend, we got together with some friends for dessert. As we were getting ready,Brandon was taking a bath as I put on my make-up. We started talking about God. That led to baptism, sin, Heaven, Old Testament sacrifices, Jesus, the resurrection, eternity ... EVERYTHING! I'd get side-tracked by a phone call or by another family member, but he'd always ge me back to our talk:). He kept saying he was ready to ask Jesus into his heart. He thought he already was a christian..."of, course God loves me...he made me and takes care of me" was his way of thinking :). That's child-like faith in it's purest state! I explained to him that he still needed to ask Him to be his Savior and Lord, and he needed to promise God that he would live for Him all the days of his life. I felt like he was too young, but he insisted. After he got dressed, Chris and I, with MaryBeth and Benton, sat on the couch and walked him through a salvation prayer...it was the most sincere I had ever seen Brandon. I asked Benton (whose situation was very similar) if he remembered where he was when he asked Jesus into his heart...he knew exactly where we were and who all was there... on his bed in Olive Branch(Mississippi) with me, Chris, and MaryBeth. MaryBeth also remembered accepting Jesus at Vacation Bible School at Broadway (Southaven,Ms).It was confirmation to me that it was real...age is important. They do need to be ready, but when the Holy Spirit leads them there, shame on us to even think about slowing them down from entering into that eternal relationship! Brandon was so excited...he ran through the house saying, "I've got Jesus in my heart!"The picture of the 3 of us is from that night. This was a parents' greatest accomplishment...leaing there babies to Jesus!! To God be the glory!!

We went back to school on Monday. After two weeks off, it wasn't easy getting back into the swing of things! We had just about gotten settled in, and then we had a school closing on Thursday due to ice. It was, however, nice to sleep late and relax before our BIG night :)! Thursday was also the National Championship game for Alabama...against Texas! My students, our friends, and our neighbors had fun talking football with us. (The last time Alabama played and won the National Championship game was in 1992 which was the year Chris and I started dating...it was fun to think back on those early days together. We were so young :)!) The pictures on the post are from the game night. These are our friends that I had mentioned on another post. The boy, Chris, is our friend who HAD cancer one day...and then didn't the next. He left world-renowned physicians at Cook's Children's Hospital fighting over who got to share the great news!! That family experienced a miraculous healing, and they are still giving God ALL the glory. We love them...even though they are Texas fans :)!

Another week starts tomorrow...we'll see what all the Lord has in store for us day by day.My prayer for all of us is that we'll fall deeper in love with Jesus everyday and that we'll let the Holy Spirit ooze out of us and onto everyone we encounter!!!
