"Things aren't always as they seem..."

This is one of my favorite quotes from my Nana. She once told me this story...

She looked out her front window one day and noticed two dogs lying in her driveway. A little later the dogs were still there, and they had not moved. She got a little worried. She gave it some more time, but the motionless dogs were STILL there. At this point, she felt convinced they were dead. It made sense; they lived on a busy street. The dogs had probably been hit by a car. She then realized she had no way of moving two heavy, lifeless dogs, so she called the police for help. As she dialed the number and explained her situation, the garbage truck drove up. Those two lazy dogs got up and started barking!! She had to then tell the policeman that she was speaking with..."nevermind, the dogs were just asleep." She was sooooo embarrassed! After she hung up the phone, she cried out to God, "Lord, why'd you let me do that. I looked so stupid!" She then said that as she was complaining, the Lord quickly showed her..."Things aren't always as they seem." We let circumstances, doubts, worries, fears, and even past failures cloud our vision, and things aren't always as they seem. We have to remember that our future is in His hands...even when things look to the contrary.

I was reminded of this in the last week as my mom was given a not-so-good report at the doctor. I had noted this in the last blog as I asked for your prayers. They found an ovarian cyst that was large and suspicious. As I shared this with one of my sweet, Godly friends, she told me of a personal experience with one of her patients. The patient almost positively had a bad diagnosis, but it turned out to be something very minor. My friend actually said, "You know, sometimes things aren't always what they seem initially." As she said that and promised to pray for mom, I had a renewed spark of hope that this, too, was "not what it seems." Mom saw an oncologist gynocologist today, and as she spoke with him about her recent struggle with pancreatitis, he re-examined her charts. After her exam and after reading her numbers, he said that the danger of the cyst was not as it had originally seemed :).
Her numbers were elevated due to her pancreas infection...he doesn't want to even think about surgery till he sees her again in 6 weeks. By then, her levels should be normal, and he expects her to be healthy and well. We know, and the doctor acknowledged it as well, that prayers were answered. They always are...even when it doesn't seem like it :)

Thanks for joining us on this amazing journey, and thanks for your prayers!
