It's hard to believe we're already well into fall! Time passes so quickly...I'm afraid I'm going to open my eyes and the kids are going to grown and gone. I want to push pause and enjoy life more!! Too busy!!

Life is good, though. Our weeks have definietly become routine, and while that can be boring, it's good! Chris has taken midterms, and he has done really well. The kids have all gotten their first report card...all A's from everyone :)...and I am preparing to take my Texas Math Certificate test on Oct 31. I still have to take a general education test in early December, and then it will be official...I will be a Texas teacher. Never mind the fact that I had a ton of experience and a couple of degrees...this will make me a REAL teacher :)....Only Texas!!
Speaking of Texas...we did a "Ft. Worth" thing yesterday. We went to the stockyards where they used to keep the cattle and pigs for the slaughter houses. They still herd the cattle (twicw a day)through the streets to the place where they feed them. Everyday at 10 am and 4 pm you can watch them herd the cattle through the streets. It's really neat! I guess it's the Texas version of the ducks at the Peabody...HAHA! There are several cowboys riding through the streets on horseback and others showing off one of their Longhorns. Every Saturday there are pony rides for the kids and then at night, there is a family-friendly rodeo. The Stockyards is also the home of "Billy Bobs"...evidently it is the infamous, World's Larget Honky Tonk" :) !!! The old, brick-paved streets are lined with many cool restuarants and shops, and many weekends are filled with concerts by famous singers like Clint Black. It's a different world, but it's really cool!
Anyway...life is getting better. Still totally missing Oxford...We can't figure out why God would wait till we left to bring Tom Wilson to NOBC!!!! You guys are in for a huge blessing! One thing is for sure...I can't wait till we're all in Heaven together...the longer I live, the more thankful I am that this old world is not what it's all about! We used to live for the big house, the big country club, the big car, the big job...I'm so glad that's not what life is all about! The things in this life that have brought me the most joy is the four other people in this little house, the one furry creature sitting at my feet, and the people who the Lord has blessed us with. Some of us only had a short season together, but I have been blessed beyond measure by my friends and family!
Continue to pray for us. Please send us your prayer requests too...we would love to know how to specifically pray for you!!

  1. Hey Amanda, I just love reading about your family and your transition to Ft. Worth. Sounds like all of you are doing well in that. I remember when our son and his wife were there in seminary just a few years ago. They went all alone (without even any moving help), knew no one, but moved onto Drew Street into seminary housing. I felt so bad that Johnny and I couldn't go along to help them, but as soon as they arrived some neighbors came out and helped them unload and invited them to eat that night. Helped my feelings so much! I'm sorry I didn't get to know you and your family better while you were here, but I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to know you through your blog. You write SO well! I know your years there will be good, unforgettable ones, as they were for our kids. They even named their 3rd daughter Annalyse Drew, b/c their memories of that place are such sweet ones. Love to you, Chris and your precious children. Joann Flynt
